With its long sandy beach, mild climate, short transfer from the airport and wide choice of family hotels, Agadir is one of the easiest places in Morocco to travel with children. It combines a relaxed beach holiday with gentle adventures, animals and culture that children remember for years.
Why Agadir works for families
- Short transfer: the airport is around 30 to 40 minutes from the main hotel area.
- Mild weather: pleasant all year, without the extreme heat of inland cities.
- A safe, wide beach with a long promenade for walks and bikes.
- Lots to do within an hour’s drive, so travel days stay short.
Best activities for children
The beach
Agadir’s beach is long and sandy, and many sections have lifeguards in summer. The Atlantic can have strong waves and currents, so always swim in supervised areas and follow the flags.
Crocoparc
Children love seeing hundreds of crocodiles, along with turtles and exotic plants, in this landscaped park outside the city. See our Crocoparc tour with tickets and transfer.
Camel rides
A camel ride on the dunes is a highlight for most children. The camels walk slowly, and a guide leads them the whole time. See our camel riding tour.
The cable car and kasbah
The cable car up to Agadir Oufella is fun for children, and the view from the top is spectacular.
Boat trip
A trip on the bay with fishing and lunch on board is a calm, memorable day out. See our boat trip with lunch.
Fantasia show
Horses, riders in traditional dress and the thunder of muskets: the Fantasia evening is exciting for older children. Learn more in our Fantasia guide.
Buggy and quad rides
Many operators allow children to ride as passengers with an adult, while minimum ages apply for driving. Always ask about age rules and safety equipment when you book. Our guide to quad, buggy or camel rides compares the options.
Family-friendly day trips
- Paradise Valley: natural pools and an easy walk, ideal for children who swim well.
- Souss-Massa National Park: birds and wildlife.
- Essaouira: a calm medina, a port full of boats, and seagulls everywhere.
Long trips such as Marrakech are possible, but involve many hours in the car, so they suit older children better.
Practical tips
- Sun: use high-factor sun cream and hats, and plan activities for morning and late afternoon.
- Water: give children bottled water and keep them well hydrated.
- Food: grilled chicken, omelettes, pasta and fresh bread are easy to find for fussy eaters.
- Car seats: they are not always available in taxis. If you need one for a transfer or tour, tell us when you book so we can check.
- Pharmacies are common and well stocked; pharmacists often speak French.
- Moroccans love children: do not be surprised if people stop to smile at or talk to your children.
