Agadir on a Budget: 15 Tips to Save Money

Agadir can be as affordable or as luxurious as you like. With a few simple habits, you can enjoy great food, beautiful beaches and memorable excursions without spending a fortune. Here are fifteen practical tips.

Accommodation

  1. Travel outside peak periods. School holidays, Christmas and August are the most expensive times. Spring and autumn often offer better prices and excellent weather. See our best time to visit guide.
  2. Consider apartments or guesthouses in areas such as Talborjt, a short walk from the beach, rather than beachfront hotels.
  3. Compare all-inclusive offers with room-only rates. Eating out locally is often cheaper than all-inclusive.

Food

  1. Eat where locals eat. Small cafés and snack bars serve tagines, grilled meat and sandwiches at much lower prices than tourist restaurants.
  2. Try the fish grills near the port: pick your fish and pay by weight. Ask the price first.
  3. Buy fruit, nuts and snacks at Souk El Had.
  4. Have breakfast like a local: msemen, bread, olive oil and mint tea cost very little. Discover more in our food guide.

Getting around

  1. Use petit taxis with the meter for short city journeys.
  2. Walk the promenade: many places along the seafront are within walking distance.
  3. Share trips: for excursions, travelling as a group lowers the cost per person, especially for private transfers.

Free and low-cost activities

  1. The beach and promenade are free and beautiful at sunset.
  2. Visit the viewpoints around the city. Our guide to the best sunset spots lists our favourites.
  3. Explore the souk and the port area just to watch daily life.

Shopping and money

  1. Bargain politely for crafts and souvenirs. Read our bargaining guide.
  2. Withdraw cash from bank ATMs and avoid changing money in hotels, which often offer worse rates. Check your bank’s foreign fees before you travel.

Save on excursions

  • Book directly with a local company rather than through several intermediaries.
  • Check what is included: hotel pickup, lunch and entrance fees can make a big difference in the final price.
  • Combine destinations on one day, such as Taroudant and Tiout, or Tiznit and Legzira.
  • Ask about group or family prices.

Our tours list clearly what is included and excluded on each page. Browse all our trips, or ask us for the best options for your budget.
