Day trips from Agadir can take you from the Atlantic coast to sand dunes, mountain gorges and busy medinas, sometimes all in one day. Temperatures and conditions can change a lot, so packing the right things makes a big difference to your comfort. Here is our practical checklist, based on the questions travellers ask us most often.
The essentials for every trip
- Passport or ID: carry a copy or the original, as police checkpoints on main roads may ask for ID.
- Cash in dirhams: many small cafés, shops and toilets only accept cash. Bring small notes and coins for tips, drinks and souvenirs.
- Water: at least one bottle per person, more in summer.
- Sun protection: sun cream, sunglasses and a hat. The sun is strong all year.
- Phone and power bank: for photos, maps and staying in touch.
- Medication: any personal medicine, plus motion-sickness tablets if you are sensitive on mountain roads.
- Tissues and hand sanitiser: useful for roadside stops.
Clothing: dress for respect and comfort
Morocco is a Muslim country, and dressing modestly is appreciated, especially outside beach areas. For both men and women, clothes that cover shoulders and knees are a good choice in towns, villages and markets. Light, breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen keep you cool.
- A light layer, such as a jumper or jacket: mountain and desert areas can be cold in the morning and evening, even when the days are hot.
- A scarf: useful against sun, wind and sand, and for covering your shoulders when needed.
- Comfortable walking shoes: medinas have uneven paving and many trails are rocky.

Boat trips
- Motion-sickness tablets if needed
- Swimwear, towel and a light jacket
- Sun cream: the reflection from the water increases sunburn risk
What to leave at the hotel
- Expensive jewellery and large amounts of cash
- Drones: their use is strictly regulated in Morocco, and they may be confiscated
- Heavy bags: travel light and keep your hands free
Tipping on tours
Tipping is customary in Morocco and appreciated by drivers, guides and restaurant staff. It is never compulsory; give what you feel is fair for the service you received.
